Our Lady of the Pillar Cathedral Choir
The OUR LADY OF THE PILLAR CATHEDRAL CHOIR is the Diocesan Choir of Imus under the supervision and management of MusiCaviteño, the Diocesan Music Ministry on Liturgical Music Inc. Established in September 2005, the Cathedral Choir is the brainchild of the Most Rev. Luis Antonio G. Tagle, former Bishop of Imus and Archbishop of Manila, now Cardinal-elect of Manila, and thrives on the support of people who desire and love good music and celebrations. Members of the choir are drawn from the different parish-based choirs all over the province of Cavite.
In 2009, the Cathedral Choir played an active role in the 5th Asian Youth Day hosted by the Diocese of Imus. The group performed a medley of Asian songs on opening night and was the assisting choir during the closing celebration of this Asian youth gathering. From 2009 to 2011, the Cathedral Choir mounted a series of full-length concerts leading to the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Diocese of Imus in 2011.
On a regular basis, the choir holds choral recitals and participates in religious services in parishes around Cavite, assists the Lenten and Advent recollections of the Bishop, and serves as the assisting choir of major diocesan liturgical celebrations. The group has also been a part of Madz Et Al since 2007. .
The choir's founding music director, conductor and resident arranger is Oscar Pantaleon Jr., an alumnus of the Philippine Madrigal Singers and the first Secretary General of the Philippine Choral Directors Association.
